The Sila National Park: What to Do and What Animals You Can See

The Sila National Park is a protected natural area located in the Calabria region of southern Italy. Covering an area of over 73,000 hectares, the park is one of the largest in Italy and represents one of the most important natural areas in Calabria.

The park features a vast woodland area, mainly consisting of Calabrian pine and beech forests. Within the Giganti di Fallistro natural reserve, you can marvel at centuries-old Calabrian pines of majestic dimensions, whose trunks form a perfect natural colonnade. These trunks can rise up to 45 meters in height and have a base diameter of about two meters.

Some areas of the park are covered with oak forests, while others are dotted with lakes and rivers such as Lake Cecita and Lake Arvo.
