TROPEA: THE PEARL OF THE TYRRHENIAN SEA

Legend has it that Tropea was founded by Hercules who, on his return from Spain, allegedly stopped along the coast, thus making Tropea one of the famous "ports of Hercules."

It has always been considered the "Pearl of the Tyrrhenian " of Calabria as it enchants its visitors and not only for the crystal clear color of its sea or the gold of its beaches.

The town stands on a cliff, perched in its characteristic old town.

Walking through its narrow streets bustling with tourists in all seasons, one reaches the small but distinctive Norman-era Cathedral or the magniloquent Church of Jesus , dating from the 17th century. Looking out from the various vantage points that dominate the coastline from above, one is left breathless admiring the glimpse of the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola or enjoying a romantic sunset toward the Aeolian Islands.

PIZZO CALABRO: THE 'NDUJA AND THE TRUFFLE 

Pizzo is a small town rich in history, culture and traditions. The Tyrrhenian town is most famous for the fateful events related to the death of Joachim Murat , Napoleon's brother-in-law, who met his death here on October 13, 1815, the story of which is told among the corridors of the town's castle, where the former king of Naples spent his last days in captivity.

A treasure chest is the town's most important church, the Collegiate Church of St. George , dating from the 16th century, Murat's burial place.

Near the historic center, along the shoreline is then the striking Church of Piedigrotta , a unique monument as it is decorated with statues and images carved entirely from rock.

Pizzo, however, is not only art and history but is also known for being the place of origin of the most famous Calabrian confectionery product, namely the famous Tartufo gelato : a ball of hazelnut ice cream, filled with a heart of chocolate fondant and dusted with cocoa.

To be tasted strictly in the small square in the center; lovers of savory food, on the other hand, will be able to set themselves on fire by tasting the flagship product of the gastronomy of the Costa degli Dei, namely 'Nduja , spicy spreadable salami, one of the symbols of Calabrian cuisine.
